Review: Revlon Lipgloss in Peony and Hot Pink

When I saw the display of the lipglosses I bounced over to it and oohed and ahhed over it. Revlon has introduced the lipgloss version of their beloved and fabulous ColorBurst lipstick. With 15 shades there is some nice variety for everyone. After much debate I chose Peony and Hot Pink to try out. These glosses run about $8 USD in drugstores.

The packaging is sleek and very pretty. It comes with the same quilted pattern as the lipsticks so it adds a nice sophisticated flair to it. Revlon states that these lipglosses provide a ton of shine, more than "patent leather." Now while these are very shiny, the shimmer that's in it is really what makes it sparkle. After the gloss wears off you do have left over shimmer, which I'm not a big fan of.

The applicator is a flat doe foot brush that is flexible to allow you to get every crevice of your lips. The pigmentation depends on the shade that you get. Peony is very sheer and mutes my lips while Hot Pink provides a nice pop of color.

There is a slight scent, perhaps a vanilla scent to these glosses. It's not obnoxious and I really have to stick my nose close to the product to smell it. The gloss is not sticky or tacky at all and feels a bit like a lipstick. Even though it's not tacky, the staying power is decent. I've had this gloss on for about 3 to 4 hours before the product was completely gone.

I really enjoy both colors. Hot Pink is great for those days where I want a nice pop of color and Peony is great to pair with a smokey eye.

Pros
-Decent color payoff
-Not tacky
-Decent staying power
-Variety of shades
-Pretty packaging

Cons
-Too much shimmer!!
Would I Repurchase: A different shade, yes

NoTD: China Glaze Harmony

So I finally decided to paint my nails with the China Glaze polish I got from my Ulta Haul. I absolutely love this color!! It makes my nails and hands look so clean and polished. I have to say it, I think I might need to get more China Glaze colors! Now I know why all you ladies love this brand. The polish was smooth to apply and the finish is lovely.

On a separate note, thank you for all the lovely comments about my job! Yes it can be stressful getting everything together, but the process becomes second nature after the first few times. When I start to work more weddings maybe I'll include some crazy stories I encounter.

Happy Monday! I hope all my East Coast people are staying warm in this frigid weather!!

My Job

I figured I do a post about my part-time job as a wedding coordinator on a cruise ship. It changes the monotonous tone of makeup, makeup, makeup.

I absolutely love this job. You get paid to help people get married! As a wedding coordinator I set up favors, answer any questions that the guests have, pin boutonniere's, calm the bride, all those things. It's a wonderful experience.

I'm sure many of you wonder if I go on the actual cruise itself after the wedding. Sadly I do not. Can you imagine how many vacations I would have if I did? It would be nice but I would get sad I wasn't with Beau.

The one thing about a cruise wedding is time. Things must start according to schedule because the ship is only docked until 4:00pm. After that, it's bon voyage! Cruise weddings are also a cheaper alternative for those who still want a ceremony, close family and friends to be present, and some pretty good food.

So this is what I do on the weekends occasionally. It becomes more frequent in the spring and summer. I hope you all enjoyed this little blurb and are having a fantastic weekend! Stay warm.

EoTD Using Dark Diversion and Noir Plum

I need to play with more colors in my makeup repertoire especially because I have so many colors! I tend to stick to neutrals because I just feel it's easier to apply and to match outfits with. Plus people give you the crazy eye O___o when you have like electric blue shadow on. It should matter but sometimes I'd rather not deal with it.

Today I decided to play with MAC's Fluidline in Dark Diversion, a beautiful plummy purple color and also their Peacocky eyeshadow in Noir Plum. I hope you guys like it! I tried a different take with the liner, it's MP-esque but I think it's a great way to incorporate color eyeliner.

Here's a close up of the liner cause you can't really see if from the collage above.

Review: L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle in Nude Beige

In my last post here, I told all you lovely ladies that I was trying out the L'Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle (what a mouthful!). I also promised that I would review this foundation as it is a hot item right now. Many people compared this foundation to the Maybelline Matte Mousse because both create a nice smooth matte finish. Honestly I really do not like Maybelline's Matte Mousse because it clogged my pores and caused a serious breakout.

The Magic Smooth Souffle is a whipped, light and very airy foundation that is suppose to create a smooth and pore less face. I tried a sample of this that I got from my local CVS and loved the way it felt on my face so I bought the full package. The price varies depending on where you go. At my drugstore it was $15.00 USD. I've heard other people claiming that this can run up to $19.00.

The packaging is very cute. It has a hot pink top and a heavy glass jar. Many people who don't like dipping their fingers in the jar will hate the packaging. I personally use a small spatula to take out the amount I need so I don't contaminate the product. Then I stipple it on with my Sigma Sigmax F80 brush. The coverage is light to medium coverage. I do not suggest that you add layers and layers, it will make you look cakey and overdone.

Nude Beige is the perfect color for my skin. For reference I'm a NC25 in MAC. The colors are limited and those with darker skin will have trouble finding a shade. It's also hard to figure out what shade you are through the jar, I had three colors in my hand before I chose Nude Beige.

This is meant for those who have oiler or normal skin. Those with dry skin will not like this unless they moisturize their skin really well. I have some dry patches in the winter and this foundation accentuated them. I also suggest that you use a primer for a really flawless face. The last few times I applied this foundation, I used my L'Oreal Studio Secrets primer and the result was quite lovely.
Pros:
-Airy texture
-Great for oilier skin types
-Lightweight
-Pore less finish

Cons:
-Limited colors
-Packaging
-Not for dry skin
-May not be enough coverage

I really like the colors but I wish it were a tad more pigmented. I tagged which colors I used by the kitty stickers. =) I'm also trying out L'Oreal's Magic Smooth Souffle foundation and so far I'm liking it a lot. I'll have a review of it up soon.

Review: L'Oreal Infallible Lipcolor in Linda's Beige

Just a quick review on L'Oreal's Infallible lip color in Linda's Beige. This is a nice true nude that is very pretty and great for a lunch date or a dat out running errands. I also do have the Beyonce Red and I wanted to do an experiment with how long it lasted on me however the pictures I took on my phone were crap so I scrapped the idea.

So does the lipstick live up to the hype of being infallible? It depends. The Beyonce Red lipstick does not budge on me. It rarely chips and lasts through eating, drinking, kissing all that jazz. Linda's Beige doesn't stay as well on me. I don't know if the formulas are different but Linda's Beige does chip faster on me. I am not really a fan of the texture of long lasting lippies. They just feel gritty on my lips when I rub them together. The color is lovely though and I do find myself wearing it when I'm out running errands because I know it won't bleed or smear.

A lot of people complain that long lasting lipsticks don't really last and chip and aren't worth the money. You must make sure to follow the directions and put this lipstick on bare lips. This means no balm or anything of the sort. You also must make sure that the color has fully dried before applying the top coat. If you apply step 2 and see residual color on the stick, that means you didn't wait long enough. You'll be able to tell if it's fully dry by whether or not it's still tacky. I've also read it depends on the PH balance of your body that causes the lipstick to chip faster. Not too sure why this is though.
Pros:
-Long lasting
-Nice smelling top coat (it smells like candy!)
-Great for dates

Cons
-May be expensive for some ($10.99 USD)
-Texture
-May chip faster on others

Would I repurchase: Perhaps another color

Review: kkCenterhk Lashes

About three weeks ago I received an email from a woman named Maggie from the company kkCenterhk. The company is based in Kowloon, Hong Kong and when she emailed me at first, I will admit I was a little skeptical. After browsing the website and reading the reviews I replied back and told Maggie that I would be interested receiving a pair of lashes to review. She quickly replied and told me to pick a my favorite from the ES brand. I selected the short criss-cross lashes (A077) because they seemed to be wearable on a daily basis. Maggie responded the following day saying that she had shipped the lashes out and about a week and a half later I received them.

The lashes that I selected looked exactly how they looked on the website and I was pretty excited to try them. The reason why I'm reviewing the lashes now are because I wanted to wear them multiple times before giving you my review. I will never lie about a product or say something false. You guys know if I don't like something because I will never hesitate to tell you.
The lashes are very comfortable and soft. They don't feel heavy at all and they don't poke my eyes out! Along with my lashes, Maggie also sent me four extra pairs! These are more glam lashes and I can't wait to try them out. The peacock lashes I'm super excited about. I thought it was very sweet and generous of her and the company to send me more than the original lashes.

From my experience, the customer service is very good. She was quick to respond and quick to ship the product out. Considering that the company is in Kowloon, the shipping was very quick. Also the price of these lashes are ridiculously low! The lashes I selected only cost $3.70 for ten pairs! That's .37 cents a pair. I don't know about you but that's a pretty good deal. There are higher priced lashes which I'm sure are even better quality but these lashes are comparable to many of the lashes found in drugstores. If you want to visit their website here is the link.

Here's a shot of what they look up close. I think they are the perfect length to wear on a daily basis without looking all done up.

 Of course here's a FotD.

Disclaimer: Please know that these lashes were sent to me to review. I am not affiliated with the company nor do I get paid to review or mention them. These are my honest opinions and thoughts.

Tweed Season: Sally Hansen Salon Effects Polish Strips In Check It Out

Sally Hansen recently launched their own line of nail polish strips. What are nail polish strips? It's basically polish that peeled off like a sticker onto your own nail. There is no drying time and no mess. You place and stick and the manicure should last you at least 7 days. Sally Hansen claims that their strips will last on nails for up to ten days. I can't tell you guys whether it's true or not because I just put these on today.

What's cool about these strips is the different designs and colors you can get. For those who love detail and style but don't know how to do it, this is a convenient way to do so. The small box runs for about $8 USD. It includes 16 different sized nail polish strips, a cuticle stick, mini file/buffer.

It may seem easy to place the nail polish strip on but I needed to be careful placing mine. I had to peel off a few just because they seemed crooked but I caution that you don't press down until you are sure that you like where the strip is. Also rub the strip against the nail to avoid any air bubbles. When you are sick of the color, just remove it with regular polish remover.
This is the crazy design that I picked. I originally wanted the leopard print but they were sold out. The color/design is called Check It Out.

Have you ladies tried this yet? What were your results? Do you love it? Hate it?

2010 Beauty Favorites - A Tag

The lovely Princesa Livia tagged me for a beauty survey. I love these! Let's get started shall we?

Questions:
1-Which lipstick/ lip gloss did you use most often in 2010?
This one is a toughie cause I love a ton of lipsticks! The most used would have to be my MAC Viva Glam V. It's the perfect neutral everyday color.
2-What was your favorite eyeshadow this year?
Eyeshadow(s) would have to be my Naked Palette by Urban Decay. I don't care how many people think it's just an "OK" palette. It's so versatile that you can do a ton of different looks.
3-What product for the complexion (foundation, blush, etc.,) did you use the most?
Hands down my Revlon Photo Ready foundation. It gave me the perfect finish without looking too cakey or done up.
4-Your favorite nail polish color of 2010?
OPI's Meet Me on The Star Ferry or Lincoln Park After Dark.

5-Which skin care product would you not give up under any circumstances?
My Oil of Olay Hydrating Fluid is something I would not give up. It was a favorite of my Grandma's and now I know why. This stuff is amazing. It hydrates the skin without making it too oily and leaves it nice and supple.
6-What is your favorite personal care product?
My Nivea Smooth Sensation lotion. I use it everyday after I shower. No dry skin for me and it smells wonderful.
7- Your usually worn fragrance in 2010?
My Ralph Lauren Blue fragrance. Beau got it for me on our first month anniversary and I've loved it since.

8-What was your personal favorite jewelry piece?
My Satya Lotus Petal earrings. These are perfect for any occasion.
9-What have you discovered in 2010 that is new for you (new products, inspirations, blogs, hobbies, etc.,)?
My makeup journey really began at the tail end of 2009 and full force in 2010. I have learned a ton of stuff including neat tricks and tips from all my blogger friends. I've also learned the importance of creating dimension on your face. Blush and bronzer are your friends.

10- Do you have resolutions for 2011? If so, what are they?
My beauty resolutions are to create different looks and use more colors. I don't want to be so safe with neutrals (though they are wonderful). I just want to be more creative.

MAC Peacocky Haul

MAC is trying to drain makeup lovers wallets dry! First it was Cham Pale then it was Stylishly Yours, now it's Mickey Contractor and Peacocky collections all in the span of two weeks. What gives MAC? Not only that, the prices are more expensive.

The MAC Peacocky collection consists of a beautiful array of limited edition eyeshadows and Kissable Lipcoulour. The colors are bold and bright and it is tempting to get them all but there are certain colors that are dupable. Temptalia has the entire list of dupes of this collection if you head on over to her site!

This is what I got
It was so tempting to get all the lip colors from this line. However after much debate I settled on these two: Scandelicious and Flaunting It. Kissable Lipcolours are not like lipglasses from MAC. They go on smooth and are as vibrant as lipsticks. There is no tackiness or stickiness.

These eyeshadows are larger than your average MAC shadow. I fell in love with Noir Plum and Dandizette the moment I saw them. Tweet Me is a great neutral and you know how I am about neutrals! I will do some looks with these colors soon!

What did you guys get from the Peacocky Collection? Tell me cause I wanna know!

My Ulta Haul

Last week I finally used my Ulta gift card. My close friends had given it to me for my birthday but I hadn't really sat down to go through the site. After debating and much decision making, this is what I got.

From left to right:
-NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder in Taupe/Ash
-NYX Runway Collection Palette in Jazz Night
-NYX Eyeshadow in Sahara
-Philosophy Body Wash in Red Velvet Cake (it smells sooo good)
-China Glaze in Harmony (My first!)
-Benefit Boi-ing and Eye Bright duo
-Three perfume samples.
-NYX Eyeshadow in Rust (Not shown cause it exploded...i.e., shattered and was messy)

I'm super excited to try the nail polish and the Runway palette. The beau actually picked both colors out for me.

Hope you are all having a wonderful Tuesday!

NoTD: Combo of OPI and Milani

I am in love with these Milani 3D Holographic nail polishes. For this look I mixed OPI's Meet Me on the Star Ferry and Milani's 3D Holographic nail polish in HD. I applied two coats each and topped it off with the famed Seche Vite top coat.

Happy Monday! How is your new year starting out? Good? Great? Bad? So-so?

Talk to you all soon.
