Maybelline Eyestudio Quads

So these quads have been hitting Youtube by storm! I think I've seen quite a few Gurus talking about this. I was asked by Steph of Julu Jewelry/Beauty and Gardens to talk about these so this entry is for you babes!
These quads I am speaking about are the Maybelline Eyestudio Quads NOT the Maybelline Stylish Smokes Quads which has also been a favorite amongst bloggers and Youtube. I found mine at my local CVS for $9.99. Yes it is quite pricey compared to the Stylish Smokes which are priced at around $5.99 so if you're trying to save money I again would wait for a BoGo or a buy one and get half price. (Again I just want to say that these are just my opinions about the product )

So I picked up 3 of these quads because I'm a sucker for colors. The ones I picked I think are best suited for everyday smokey look.

Sorry about the terrible lighting. I am still working on my camera skills. =D. These quads don't have individual eyeshadow names so you don't have to worry about remembering too many names. =)

So what do I think about these quads? I think that they are ok. Not amazing but not terrible. I think with the price they have them at I would want something really great especially for a drugstore brand but I can't complain too much I guess. The colors are pretty pigmented especially when you pick them up with your finger. There is no problem picking the eyeshadow up with you brush. I have had some eyeshadows where I feel like I have to dip the brush in it several times for it to get remotely close to the color I want. One thing about this that makes me go "ehh" is that this is sparkly. All the shadows in the quads have some sort of shimmer and there is no matte shadows to counter it. The one that is super duper sparkly is the highlight color in the quads. Another thing that works against these quads is the blending factor. To me, it's easy to blend the colors away so don't take that blending brush and get too happy with it lol!

My favorite out of the three I've chose is probably Taupe Temptress. It looks really purple in the pan but I think the color comes out pretty neutral. Here are the swatches on my arm of each of the quads. See how pigmented it is?

Has anyone else tried these quads? I would love to know your opinion!

  1. Yeah, I thought the quads were really tiny compared to the smokes collection. 2: I wanted to pick one up from the drug store, but it was a hefty $11.99 for me! But if I did purchase one, Taupe Temptress would be the one. :P

  2. i have 2 of these quads too! taupe temptress and one of the blue quads (i forget the name) :D i think they work pretty well wet but if i use them dry they apply kind of sheer. it's good for an everyday look since it's not too dramatic. nice picks! :) xx

  7. @Steph Lmao I didn't say that they suck, they just aren't great lol i don't think they are worth 9.99 though, I'd rather stick with my Stylish Smokes quads.

@Hyuna lol I think they are not released everywhere yet, but thanks for the love!! =)

  8. Didn't realize they were $10. Thought they'd be like $7. Maybe then, worth trying out.

I think I'm gonna stick with my rimmel shadows for now :X
