First Impressions: Colourpop Lippiestix in Fancy, Tootsi, Pinch, and Lumiere

ColourPop is a budget friendly cosmetics company that has been all the rage for bloggers and YouTubers alike. Not only is it painfully affordable, its fashionable and chic with its branding and packaging. ColourPop was "born, raised and made with love in the City of Angels (LA)" and is "100% fur baby friendly." They have tons of lip shades to choose from and also have an extensive line of blushes, eye shadows, bronzers, and highlights to boot! The lowest priced single item begins at $5.00 USD and the most expensive priced single item is $8.00 USD. ColourPop also has sets that begin at $20.00 USD.

I have only heard good things about this company. Besides being very affordable, their quality was deemed stellar by many. After seeing swatches from many popular blogs and channels, I couldn't disagree.
So you must wonder, what motivated me to place my first order? Well, being a fan of this season's Dancing With the Stars, I followed Rumer Willis on Instagram and saw she had collaborated with ColourPop to create two beautiful collections...and I was sold. The following night, after carefully perusing the site, I placed my order. I decided to forego the shadows for now since I have quite the plethora of palettes and opted for four Lippie Stix, a blush, and highlighter.
Once the order was placed and processed, it took about a week to get here from the City of Angels to the Garden State since it was Memorial Day weekend. If it hadn't been for the holiday weekend, I probably would have gotten my package sooner. On the day I received the parcel, I eagerly ripped it open and saw a lovely handwritten note along with two postcards with tips and tricks on how to apply and use each product.

Now onto my thoughts about these Lippie Stix. Two words...HOLY COW!!!! Even after what I saw and heard, I could not believe just how pigmented, luxurious, and amazeballs these were. On my lips, they feel smooth, non-drying, but they still somehow render that matte feeling and look I've been enjoying as of late. Also, the ones that I selected smell like this heavenly vanilla caramel cake but I have been told that some Lippie Stix smell like plastic, so I'm guessing it depends on what color or batch you get. While I do love all the shades I've picked, my two favorites have to be Tootsi and Lumiere.
The swatch I've provided was only with two swipes. I'll quickly go over the descriptions of each shade now:
  • Fancy: described as a "neutral mid tone coral in a satin finish"
  • Tootsi: a "cool-toned grey beige ('greige') in a Matte finish
  • Pinch: "a light pinky beige in a matte finish"
  • Lumiere: "a dusty mauve pink in a matte finish"

I think if I had one negative thing to say, if I HAD to, it would be that the application can be a little stiff initially until the product warms up, but that's only upon initial contact. Otherwise I have no complaints about these Lippie Stix at all and will definitely purchase more in the near future.

Have you tried any of the ColourPop Lippie Stix? What are your thoughts? Yay or nay?

  1. The packaging is clever, that probably saves them a bundle. My wife is still sticking with a Cover Girl pink (it's called something else...crystal something), but with these prices she could experiment a little if she wanted to.
