First Impressions: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter

My lip junkie hoarder came out today when I saw the new Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter display at my local CVS. After reading so many raving reviews about the product, I just had to get my hands on them. Luckily, there was a BoGo half off sale so I didn't have to pay full price. I also had a CVS coupon for three bucks. Honestly, I wanted to get all of them, but I agonized at the display for at least ten minutes before settling on six.

I didn't want to do a review post since I haven't had them long enough to actually give a full and valid review so this is more of a "first impressions" post. Looking at these lip butters, they remind me of the Dior lip balms. I've never tried the Dior balms to give you a comparison but they look very similar. What else can I say about these? They apply smoothly onto your lips and do feel moisturizing. The neutral shades are more sheer compared to the darker and more pigmented shades. For example, Sugar Coating is a sheer lilac pink that provides a nice sheen with some sparkle. Lollipop on the other hand is very pigmented and opaque.

The packaging is nice, being somewhat similar to the original Colorburst packaging. The lipstick covers match the shade of the lip butter but still retain the aesthetically pleasing quilt patterns. Another plus about these lip butters is the fact that they swivel down all the way. I don't know about you, but I hate when I nick lipsticks with the cap because the product doesn't go all the way into the tube.

These lip butters retail anywhere between seven to nine dollars depending on where you buy it. At my CVS they were $7.49. If you can't get your hands on these right now, Revlon has stated these will be part of the permanent line launching in January 2012. There will additional shades as well.

Have any of you girls tried these? What are your thoughts?

Also Happy Halloween!!!

I Feel Spark-tacular!

I love painting my nails, it's therapeutic for me. I'm currently in love sparkly topcoats and fell in love with Spark-tacular. I heard this topcoat is a possible dupe for OPI's Rainbow Connection from the Muppet collection.

Hope everyone has been well, us east coast people got our first snow storm! Crazy right? I just hope this isn't a prelude to what winter is going to be like!

Nail Products:
-Revlon Quick Dry Base Coat
-Essie Power Clutch
-Sephora OPI Spark-tacular

Make Me Your Radio

I have been going back and forth on whether or not to buy the Monster Beats Solo headphones. I finally bit the bullet and got them today. Soooo glad I did! They are so comfortable and just flat out sexy.

Hope you all are well ^.^

Inglot Love

Went to Garden State Mall today and was ecstatic there is an Inglot there. Another thing I was excited about? It was empty! Ok, let me explain. The mall was extremely packed, but the wing Inglot was located in was empty. So I did a little happy dance and browsed the store without anyone cutting in front of me, getting in my way or screaming in my ear.

I only got a few things: two lipglosses, a lipstick and their cream concealer. I already love the smoothness and scent of the lipstick and I'm definitely a fan of their shadows. I can't wait to try the concealer.

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! :)

NoTD: Facets of Fuschia

Totally in love with this polish. It's supposed to be a dupe for Deborah Lippmann's Bad Romance. It's a limited edition color so hurry to your drugstore to get it!!

I Wish I Was...

As I am approaching my 26th birthday (less than a month away, *GASP!*) I was reflecting to myself today and thinking of how I've grown as a woman. I'm sure I will ramble now, so try to stick with me =).

Ten years ago, I was 15, a junior in high school. I had just come to grasp with the fact I was actually cute to the opposite sex. I no longer had my braces, my hair grew out and above it all I had a boyfriend. Yet I still wished to be someone else, cause there was always someone more popular, better, prettier, the list could go on. I judged my happiness on the amount of friends I had rather than the quality.

Fast forward to five years later, I was 20. I was still finding myself in college, realizing that friendships made in high school were not always meant to be forever and realizing that the world wasn't as black and white as it appeared to be. I was still unsure of myself, self-conscious and carried doubt with me wherever I went regardless of how many people told me how special I was.

Now I am 25 and as I reflected today, I no longer wanted to be someone else. In fact, I was happy with the way I looked, happy with my personality. HAPPY with my whole being. Perhaps this was a quarter of century epiphany, who knows, but I was relieved that I no longer wished to be someone prettier or hotter or whatever adjective you want to insert. That doesn't mean I don't want to better myself or improve myself, it just means that I'm finally comfortable in my own skin.

OK, so you're probably asking, what is the point of this whole post? The point is, many of us wish we were someone else. We spend so much wishing to be someone else that we never realize just how awesome we truly are. Each one of you is awesome! Never ever forget that, and don't ever listen to the people who tell you otherwise. The important people will love and appreciate you through every hardship in your life.

So if you're having a bad day and everything in your life is going wrong, don't fret, remember things get better regardless whether you believe it or not.

I Moustache You a Question

Hahaha, OK, I'm technically not saving it for later. It is quite obvious that I've made some changes to my blogger. So I "Moustache" what do you think?

Hello World and my lovely blogger friends!
I hope you all have been well. I know it seems that I have taken a hiatus, I apologize. Lately I haven't felt like blogging to be honest. I wake up in the mornings, get ready for work and then when I'm on my computer, I read all the blogs that I'm following and comment on quite a few of them, some I just lurk and read. Hopefully soon I will get back to this more frequently. I'm very sure my motivation to begin blogging will happen soon.

Until then, as Tigger would say, "Ta Ta for now!"

A Day In Pictures

Spent the day out in the city to celebrate Beau's birthday. We love history so we went to the Museum of Natural History then ate dinner at the Ember Room (food was all right, the Cucumber Sanita I want to say it's called is A-MAZING! I had 3 which is rare for me) and finally to close the day we went to see Million Dollar Quartet. Fun day, exhausting day.

Hope you're all well. <3 Happy Labor Day weekend!
There was a man on a flying carpet in one of the displays...

Stay Safe

To all my readers on the East Coast, please stay safe and stay informed with this approaching storm/hurricane/whatever you want to call it. I know some people aren't taking it seriously and claiming that these mandatory evacuations are not necessary and that everyone is being melodramatic about the whole thing, however it is better safe than sorry.

If you are in a mandatory evacuation area, please LEAVE! We want you safe.

Besides, once this passes, we can all go out and play ^^

Appa approves of this message!

Deal Alert!

For those of you interested in trying out Salma Hayek's new cosmetic line, NUANCE, CVS is currently having a sale of buy one get one free!

Have any of you tried this new line? What do you think? I personally think the packaging of the lipstick looks eerily similar to NYX's Black Label lipsticks.

Haven't tested these out yet, if you want a review, let me know! ^^

**Please note that all CVS branches may not have the same sales.

Review: NARS Pago Pago Lipstick

Described as a "shimmering pink" lipstick, Pago Pago is part of the NARS Sheer Lipstick line. According to Sephora, each NARS lipstick is "enriched with vitamin E to increase wearability and keep true color intact." Pago Pago was released with the summer line and I believe is a permanent color. NARS lipsticks retail for $24 USD.

The lipstick itself is easy to apply and has a balm like feel to it. Due to the fact it is part of the sheer line, the opacity is minimal. Once applied onto my lips, it muted the pigmentation slightly but also gave of a hint of pink and shimmer. The translucence of the color may attract many people since it's easy to apply and will flatter most skin tones, however; the shimmer may deter some since it may be deemed "not work appropriate." I only found the shimmer to be very noticeable up close and also when it was close to reapplication.

The wear on this lipstick is about 3 hours. If you are a lip licker, it may be shorter. The smoothness of Pago Pago allows for more slip and less staying power. You will be left with remaining shimmer. However the shimmer particles are not gritty on your lips, which is a plus.

For me, this is a great lipstick for a lunch date, running errands or for those who wish to have a natural feel with a little kick (the shimmer). Those who wish for more opacity should stay away from Pago Pago.

July Favorites!

It's a small group this month, I haven't really been wearing much makeup due to how hot it is! Plus my skin has been acting up lately, (insert sad face) so I'm trying to let it breathe.
Going clockwise
1-Michael Kors perfume: This perfume smells wonderful! It's a floral mix with a bit of musk. It's classy and great for everyday.

2-Versace Versus rollerball: Another floral scent which has been a favorite. I got it as a sample from a Sephora order back in May. I loved it so much that I purchased the rollerball to bring with me everywhere I go. It also has some fruity notes as well.

3-Fairydrop Scandal Queen Mascara (original formula): I purchased this before the waterproof version came out. I usually tend to stay away from regular formula mascaras since they never hold my curl but while this one doesn't keep my curl entirely, it doesn't make my lashes wilt. Another plus is that it's sooo easy to wash off! Just warm water and the mascara comes off. It doesn't smudge throughout the day either.

4-Inglot Sleeks Lipgloss in 89: I love this neutral pinky gloss. Smells like vanilla and isn't sticky at all. I also adore the packaging. Pigmented enough to go alone or you can layer it over your lipstick as well.

5-Physician's Formula Eye Booster Eyeliner in Ultra Black: Does it really boost my lashes? I haven't noticed but this eyeliner is perfect to create a cat eye and it doesn't budge until you wash it off. Well, it can be wiped away if you cry or have an allergy attack. So it's not fully waterproof but this is the best drugstore eyeliner I've encountered.

6-MAC Prolong Wear Foundation in NC30: Perfect for those sticky days. This foundation is great for those with oily skin. I find I'm not such a greaseball when I use this.

7-MAC Mineralized Blush in Pressed Amber: Great for contour or blush, especially for a lazy girl like me!

I also took the liberty to lighten my ends even further for the ombre effect. I took the pic on my phone but it's considerably lighter. The only thing I hate is how dry the ends feel. Oh well, nothing a conditioning masque or two can't fix right?

I hope all of you are well! Have a great Sunday!
